LABOR DAY WEEKEND

ART HAPPENING
Students in Mrs. Miller’s class work on a painting in the style of mural artist, Keith Haring, whose work represents the ideas of kindness and fun.

ALL ABOUT THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD
Mrs. Weaver's 3rd grade students learned about the scientific method and how to ask questions, form a hypothesis, test the hypothesis, and make conclusions based on their findings. The students used UV beads to see what material would protect them best from the sun.

FALL SCHOOL PICTURES
Order forms came home with your child this week, but you can also order online for your convenience. Remember, this is the photo that will be in the yearbook, so every child will be photographed regardless of if they order pictures or not.

WHAT'S IN A NUMBER?
2nd grade students from Mrs. Duke's class completed a fun math activity where they were given a two-digit number and asked to represent it in as many ways as they could. The students represented numbers using number sentences, place value manipulatives, and number words.

GARLAND COUNTY LIBRARY VISIT
Ms. Tiffany from the Garland County Library visited a couple of our 2nd grade classes virtually last week. Ms. Smeltzer's and Ms. Miller's enjoyed getting to learn about all of the things going on at the GCL. Ms. Tiffany shared a couple of new books too!

COVID-19 VACCINE OPPORTUNITY
Are you attending the big game on Friday? Have you been trying to find a time and place to receive the COVID-19 vaccine? Lake Hamilton and Lakeside have teamed up to provide a convenient vaccination opportunity for you!
The Arkansas Department of Health / Garland County Health Unit will be onsite Friday night offering COVID-19 vaccines during the game.
Arkansans ages 12 or older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. There is no out-of-pocket expense for the vaccine. For those that do not have insurance, the vaccine will be available at no charge.

WORKING TOGETHER
Students in Mrs. Grisham's 3rd grade class participated in a spaghetti relay. The class talked about partner expectations and then had to work with a partner to get their noodle to the back of the room. If the noodle dropped or broke they had to start over. When the relay was over, students reflected on how they worked with their partners.

CALL FOR REGISTRATION | 9.11.01 PARADE
This year marks the 20th anniversary of 9.11.01. The Lake Hamilton School District will remember and honor the 20th anniversary with a Remembrance Parade through campus on Friday, September 10, at 1:30 p.m.
The LHSD would like to invite all area first responders, medical professionals, and past/present military members to participate in the parade. Pre-registration is required and must be submitted on or before Friday, September 3 at this link: https://lhsd.info/Remembrance-Parade-Registration
