LHHS | TECH FOR GOOD Three Lake Hamilton High School computer science students recently competed in the Girls of Promise Tech for Good competition sponsored by The Womenโ€™s Foundation of Arkansas and AT&T. Girls around the state in grades 6-12 were invited to develop an app, website, computer program, 3D printer template, or anything else โ€œtechโ€ that theyโ€™re inspired to create. Tech for Good allows girls to use their tech skills to make something that helps others! This year, Tech for Good partnered with Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance to educate girls on hunger in our state. The technology project must either assist communities, leaders, and/or non-profits to better address issues of hunger within the state of Arkansas. The teams were tasked with learning about food security issues in our state and then develop a solution via technology. Lake Hamilton had all five state finalists that were invited to compete in the 2021 Tech for Good (two from the junior high and three from the high school). High school finalists were Colleen Miller, Abby Chuang, and Taylor Alred. The culmination of the Tech for Good competition was held April 1, 2021, where the finalists presented their technology virtually to 8th grade girls throughout the state attending the Girls of Promise Virtual Conference. After the presentations, the 8th grade girls voted for their favorite solution to hunger in our state. All finalists received a prize box with technology related items. #LHWolfNation

She cares deeply about every student she comes in contact with. She genuinely wants all of her kids to succeed and be the best they can be. She also is very fun to be around so it makes her students want to learn. Math is one of the hardest subjects to teach and Mrs. Deweber does an amazing job." - Addy Malliard (LHJH Student) #LHWolfNation

Each staff member that receives a staff shoutout submission receives a "staff shoutout card" with the message. You can submit a staff shoutout by clicking this link: https://lhsd.info/Staff-ShoutOuts Today, the staff shoutout is to Debbie Key at the intermediate school: "I would like to give a big shout out thank you to my daughter's 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Debbie Key. This has been a difficult year of change for all and my daughter Lexi's first year at Lake Hamilton. In addition, I've been diagnosed and battling a serious health condition, so the adjustment has not been easy for Lexi. But with all of that, we're blessed to have Debbie Key as her teacher because she has gone way above and beyond what any parent could ask, expect or hope for in the teaching and caring for of the children. I know that firsthand, and I just want to share with everyone how fortunate we are that she is a part of Lake Hamilton School District. It will not be covid-19 my family remembers most this year. It will be Mrs. Key. Thank you for your dedication! We love you!" - Angela Tindall (LHIS Parent) #LHWolfNation

VACCINE INTEREST SURVEY Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced Tuesday that all Arkansans age 16 and above are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. The Lake Hamilton School District is looking to host a free, voluntary, on-site vaccination clinic for all parents of LHSD students and students age 16 and older. The District will use this survey (https://lhsd.info/Vaccine-Interest-Survey) to gauge how many of our parents and students (16 and older) would like to be vaccinated if an on-site option was scheduled. Please fill out the survey if you and/or your student (16 or older) would be interested in getting the COVID-19 vaccine at an on-site clinic held at Lake Hamilton. Please note: Any student that is 16 or 17 years of age must have a parent/guardian present in order to receive the vaccine. Students who are 18 years or older may receive the vaccine without a parent/guardian present. This is not a registration form for the vaccine. This is an interest survey. The deadline to complete the interest survey is Monday, April 5, 2021. Depending on the response, the District will work to schedule an on-site clinic for those that are interested in the very near future. #LHWolfNation
