HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS Kindergarten classes use the handwriting program Handwriting Without Tears. Students learn to build letters with sticks and curves and then practice writing them. Ms. Jordan's class practiced building the letter R. #LHWolfNation

MATH POP Ms. Carrouth's first grade class enjoyed a fun game of Math Pop. They took turns "popping" to figure out addition problems. #LHWolfNation

TELLING A STORY Ms. Avery’s kindergarten class has been learning to identify characters, settings, and major events to be able to retell familiar stories. After reading The Three Little Pigs, they used character pieces and setting cards to re-tell the story in small groups. #LHWolfNation

INSTRUCTIONAL OPTIONS DEADLINE The Lake Hamilton School District opened student registration for onsite and virtual instructional options on June 30, 2020. Since the virtual option was new for the 2020 school year, the deadline has been extended multiple times to accommodate Lake Hamilton School District families while figuring out what would be the best option for their child(ren) this semester. During a normal school year, students would have been able to make changes to their schedule up to 10 days after the school year has started. This year, the deadline for schedule changes was extended. That said, September 30th is the 27th day of the school year and the final day a student may switch to/from virtual/onsite instruction. No changes to the instructional options will be granted from October 1 until the end of the semester. There will be times where onsite students and/or teachers will have to quarantine or isolate themselves due to COVID-19. The school buildings will continue to accommodate those students and/or teachers by offering virtual instruction during the quarantine or isolation period. Parents may choose to have their student switch to/from onsite/virtual for the spring semester. A transfer application will be available at the end of the fall semester for parents wanting to change instructional options for the spring. #LHWolfNation

BOOKS BY ZOOM MEETING Ms. Tiffany, from the Garland County Library, joined in a zoom meeting with Ms. Richardson’s first grade class to read them a funny book and talk about the exciting things the library has planned. #LHWolfNation

GO GOLD SHIRTS September is designated as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to bring awareness to childhood cancer, which remains the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 14. This month, we pay tribute to the families, friends, professionals, and communities who lend their strength to children fighting pediatric cancer. Gold is the color worn during this month.
