WHAT WENT RIGHT
Sometimes, we focus too much on the negative things and fail to recognize the positives. The media and social media outlets do not help much in this regard. Bad news is typically more likely to get published, broadcast, and shared. That said, let's see how many shares we can get from this positive news post!
This past Friday ended the first week of school for Lake Hamilton School District students, and things ran amazingly well given the pandemic world we’re experiencing. There is no doubt that almost every student, parent, and school employee had something go wrong throughout the week. Now, what about the other side of the story? What went right? Click the link below to read about all of the positives from the first week of school:

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS
All onsite and virtual students must have up to date immunizations. Tdap is required for all students 11 and older. Exceptions for any age are due. Kindergarten physicals and immunizations are also due. The meningitis vaccination is required for all 7th grade and 16 year old students.
Parents must provide proof to the school nurse for all immunizations. If students have not received the required vaccinations, please consult a physician or the Garland County Health Unit (501-624-3394) for an appointment. Please communicate with your school nurse if you have an upcoming appointment or if you have any further questions.

DUKE TIP AWARD
Seventh grade students who score in the 95th percentile or above on state or national testing have the opportunity to join the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP).
After joining TIP, students have the opportunity, through Duke TIP, to participate in monthly enrichment activities, academic contests, advocacy tools, above-grade-level testing opportunities (additional fees apply), and advanced online courses and residential programs (additional fees apply).
The following Lake Hamilton students took advantage of above-grade-level testing by taking the ACT this past spring, while in seventh grade, and received certificates from Duke TIP: Payton Bump, Coti Dorrell, Bella Dozier, Kaitlin Guthrie, William Murders, Arabella Norton, Easton Smith, and Jacob Wright.
In addition, the following four students received trophies for their ACT scores and will be invited to the Duke TIP State Recognition Ceremony to be held in the spring of 2021: Payton Bump (not pictured), Kaitlin Guthrie, William Murders, Easton Smith.
Congratulations!

BUS TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
All students will be expected to maintain an established transportation routine to and from school each day. Students who travel to or from school by bus will be expected to ride the same bus to and from home. In some circumstances, students may need to be transported to a different location, such as another family member's home, on an approved bus route and stop, after school dismissal. This regular routine would likely be allowed. Any changes to student school bus transportation must be approved by building administration. Students will not be allowed to travel by bus with other students for social purposes such as staying overnight or over a weekend.
Face-coverings are required for all bus drivers and passengers at all times.
