Dear Sixth & Seventh Grade Parents,
It is hard to believe that it’s May! The end of the year–like the beginning–always brings a surge of excitement. One thing for everyone to remember is we still have a purpose with school until the last day.
Speaking of the end of the year, LHMS will collect Chromebooks and chargers from students on May 21st and 22nd. May 21st is for 7th graders and May 22nd is for 6th grade. Don’t worry if your child still needs one during school a few will be left in each classroom so retakes and late work can be completed. Keep in mind that if your student does not return the materials they will be charged to his/her account.
Sports physicals are scheduled for May 7th. These will take place during school hours and are for any student who will be participating in a AAA sanctioned sport. These are free to you; however, your child will need to fill out a medical history form before the physical. If you would rather have your child’s doctor do his/her physical please make sure you take the AAA physical form with you to your child’s doctor. All students must have a physical before practicing for the 2024-2025 school year. At the moment, there is not a makeup date for physicals.
After state testing, we allow some clubs and classes to take field trips to enhance student learning. LHMS 7th grade Science Lab has a field trip planned for May 9th. Robotics has a field trip May 10th. Our entire 7th grade class has been invited to a Farm Bureau/4-H Agricultural Expo at the fairgrounds on May 14th. This activity is free for all 7th graders.
Our End of the Year Awards ceremonies will be on May 23rd in the Middle School Gym. This year we will recognize students for All A’s, All A’s & B’s, Perfect Attendance, Growth on every NWEA Test, and one student from each teacher for Most Improved. Seventh grade awards will be at 10:00 and sixth grade will be at 1:00. If you plan to attend you will need to check in through the front office and if you want to take your child afterward you will need to sign them out through the front office.
For the month of April the students selected Mrs. Rouse as the Middle School Feature Teacher. Please check out the attachment about her and why she was chosen.
Speaking of our teachers, May 6th–10th is Teacher Appreciation Week. I know I’m biased, but I believe that LHMS has some of the best educators in the business. If you feel the same way please don’t hesitate to send them an email.
I hope your student has had an amazing year. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
