COVID-19 VACCINE OPPORTUNITY Are you attending the big game on Friday? Have you been trying to find a time and place to receive the COVID-19 vaccine? Lake Hamilton and Lakeside have teamed up to provide a convenient vaccination opportunity for you! The Arkansas Department of Health / Garland County Health Unit will be onsite Friday night offering COVID-19 vaccines during the game. Arkansans ages 12 or older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. There is no out-of-pocket expense for the vaccine. For those that do not have insurance, the vaccine will be available at no charge. #LHWolfNation

LHIS TEACHER RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP Brittany Bailey, a teacher at Lake Hamilton Intermediate School, has recently been named a 2021 recipient of the Parsons-Burnett Scholarship Grant. These scholarships are awarded each year by the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association with a purpose of supporting Arkansas public-school educators in furthering their education. Bailey is a graduate of Henderson State University and is currently teaching 4th grade. She plans to use the funds to complete the Curriculum Director Certificate Program through Arkansas State University. Twelve scholarships were awarded this year through a competitive application process. The scholarships are funded by contributions form the members of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association (ARTA). ARTA was established in 1939-40 with 15 members. Today, it is the fourth largest professional trade association in Arkansas. The organization maintains an active interest in public education while advocating for the professional, personal, social and economic welfare of retired (and future-retired) public school employees. Presenting the check to Bailey was Caroline Miller and Golden Lloyd with the Garland County Retired Teachers Association Chapter. ​MEALS AT NO COST FOR 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR The Lake Hamilton School District is pleased to announce that breakfasts and lunches will be served to all students at no charge during the 2021-2022 school year. It is not necessary to complete a meal application for free or reduced-priced meals as The United States Department of Agriculture has extended meal benefits to all students at this time. For households who wish to complete a meal application, please click the following link: https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/PickDistrict. Paper applications will also be available upon request at each school. These meal benefits do not include a la carte items sold in the cafeteria. If students wish to purchase items a la carte, they will need to have money for those purchases. All adults, teachers, support staff members, and administrators of the district must assume the full cost of the meal which is $2.25 for Breakfast and $3.85 for Lunch. #LHWolfNation

MASKS REQUIRED INDOORS & ON SCHOOL BUSES On Monday, August 9, 2021, the Lake Hamilton School District Board of Education approved the following mask policy: All students (Pre-K through 12th grade), employees, and visitors entering schools and indoor facilities within the Lake Hamilton School District must wear an appropriate face-covering. All passengers and drivers on district school busses must wear an appropriate face-covering. The Board of Education will review COVID-19 case counts and related data monthly. The mask policy will expire on December 17, 2021, or sooner, if the board moves to repeal them, or a court acts to reverse the temporary injunction or uphold Act 1002 of 2021. #LHWolfNation
