The PSAT/NMSQT is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT and even the ACT, but it’s more than just a trial run. PSAT scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships. On the morning of October 13, LHHS sophomores will have the opportunity to take a free PSAT Test on the Lake Hamilton Campus.
A student can only take the PSAT once per year. Some students take the test in both 10th and 11th grade. If a student earns a high score on the PSAT during their junior year, they could qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship—$180 million dollars in merit scholarships are awarded to students each year. The PSAT tests skills in reading, writing, and math. LHHS uses scores from the PSAT to identify sophomores who have the potential for high achievement in Advanced Placement courses.
In order to take the free PSAT test, students must register with this form before the end of the school day on September 14, 2021.
