To the parents of the Classes of 2025, 2026 and 2027
School has gotten off to a great start and we are settling back into school-mode. Golf, tennis, cross county, volleyball and football have all been practicing and some have already started competing. Band is hard at work as well preparing to defend their state title and getting ready for New York.
A few parents have inquired about grades. Yes, they are starting to show up in the gradebook. You should receive an email shortly for you to get access to the Home Access Center (HAC). This will give you privileges to view your child’s progress after resetting your password.
While on the subject of grades, please know that attendance is crucial. When your child is absent he/she misses classroom instruction. If/When your child is out make sure that he/she brings a doctor's note to get the date(s) excused. Keeping the school up to date with reasons for absences can prevent a Family In Need of Services (FINS) petition from being filed with Garland County Juvenile Court. Likewise it also gives students a chance at being exempt from Spring Semester Tests.
Yes, you read that last sentence correctly. Back by popular demand are semester tests! Every LHHS student will wrap up each semester with Semester Exams. The dates for the Fall Semester Tests are December 16th, 17th, and 18th with make-ups on the 19th and 20th. Seniors will take their Spring Semester Tests on May 1st and 2nd. Junior and Sophomores Spring Semester Test dates will be announced at a later date.
Please note that the 2024-2025 LHSD calendar has built-in inclement weather days. February 20th, March 21st, April 18th and May 27th and 28th are designated dates to make-up any days that inclement weather causes us to miss school. If we are in school those days instruction is happening.
If your student is graduating this Spring and is thinking about some sort of post-secondary degree or trade, I strongly encourage you to make use of this link. This is a current and ever-growing list of scholarship opportunities that our counseling department is compiling. Chasing a degree or trade is good but it’s even better when someone else is paying for it!
Please remember that we are here to help. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
