THANKSGIVING BREAK
The LHSD is thankful for our wonderful students, staff, parents, and community members!
All LHSD buildings and offices will be closed November 22 - 26 for Thanksgiving Break. School will resume for students and staff on Monday, November 29.

VERB BINGO
3rd graders in Ms. Grisham's literacy classes played irregular verb BINGO last week. The students loved the chance to play a game while learning at the same time!

LIFE CYCLES
Ms. Chandler's 3rd grade classes have been studying different life cycles. 2 weeks ago, they found a beautiful caterpillar, and wondered if they might be able to watch it make a cocoon or chrysalis, and turn into a butterfly. Sure enough, a couple of days after finding the caterpillar, they had a chrysalis! Two weeks passed with the students anxiously awaiting what would happen and on Friday when they came to school, they found a beautiful butterfly in the jar. The students took him out, let him dry his wings, and then turned him loose on the playground. What a fun experience!

NARRATIVE WRITING
Student's in Mrs. Duke's 2nd grade class wrote their first narrative piece of the year. They wrote some fun stories!

MASCOT PICTURES
LHES PTO will be holding a mascot picture fundraiser on Friday, November 6, 2021. The photo opportunity will be $5 and that gets the student a framed picture with Wolfie, our Lake Hamilton mascot.

FOOD DRIVE
The Lake Hamilton School District's food drive will be held November 1 - 5, 2021. Each grade has been assigned a food item that can be brought to school during the week. Did you know the district supplies 239 students with food backpacks each Friday so the students will have something to eat over the weekend? The district also provides 50 - 55 food boxes to Lake Hamilton families each month. The Lake Hamilton Parent Center is currently in need of food for these two services. Please consider donating this week!
Pre-K and Kindergarten: Granola Bars or Breakfast Bars
1st Grade: Mac & Cheese (Boxes or Individual Serving Size)
2nd Grade: Cereal (Large Boxes)
3rd Grade: Oatmeal (Individual Packets)
4th Grade: Peanut Butter or Jelly
5th Grade: Canned Vegetables or Instant Potatoes
6th Grade: Canned Soup or Packaged Soup Mixes
7th Grade: Rice or Hamburger Helper
8th Grade: Canned Meat (Vienna Sausage, Tuna, Chicken, etc.)
9th Grade: Crackers (Saltine, Ritz, Peanut Butter, etc.)
High School, New Horizons, & PBS: Pasta or Pasta Sauce
Central Office or Other Staff: Meals in a Can (Chef Boyardee, Stew, Chili, etc.)
*Please check for an expiration date before sending food items to school.
